Great WordPress Plugins we use at Matizmo

From the desk of Jake Coventry

The choice of Plugins available for WordPress is fantastic. However, as the level of choice grows daily, it can make it difficult to keep on top of which ones are good, which ones are bad and which ones are dynamite. Before jumping in and installing Plugins left, right and centre you need to consider a couple of factors. Firstly, not all Plugins are going to suit what you are trying to do with your site. Take a couple of recommendations from different sources before you install them. That is because, secondly, installing too many Plugins will make your page load more slowly.

We are very happy with the WordPress Plugins we use and are more than happy to recommend them, as we have done below.

1. Yet Another Related Posts Plugin – Does what it says on the tin. It displays relevant posts next to the current topic. This encourages visitors to stay on your site and read more. The WordPress Plugin works by matching keywords in its algorithm, thus sourcing and displaying the most relevant content on the bottom of the article.
2. WP Greet Box – We love this one. It allows you to display a bespoke message to visitor’s dependant on how they got to your WordPress post. For Example, someone comes to you via LinkedIn, the WP Greet Box will allow you to suggest they repost or comment on your article on LinkedIn. This gives you more exposure to their network and thus encourages further traffic. Nifty WordPress Plugin.
3. Scribe SEO – There are literally hundreds of SEO Plugins on WordPress. Everyone wants to ensure their posts and articles are picked up and indexed properly. Scribe SEO is a nice tool to have. It helps you choose keywords based on what readers are searching for, then suggests how you can tweak how you currently write posts and articles to ensure it is maximised for SEO, finally – and this is the bit we love – it helps you identify influential social media users in order to obtain back links.
4. Redirection – We all know that an occasional change to your site can inadvertently break links and trackbacks. This helpful little WordPress Plugin tidies up the loose ends your site may have and captures a log of where the errors are so you can fix them.
5. Platinum SEO Plugin – The daddy of SEO tools for WordPress. With this tool you can ensure a different title, description and metatags for each WordPress post online. As well as the plethora of options such as index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet, noodp, noydir, it gives you complete control over what those robots see and don’t see when they crawl your site.

    Hi Matizmo Crew,

thank you for the WordPress plugin tips.

We also use a brilliant SEO plugin for our Sitemap generation with Google Webmaster (incidentally 90% of our SE traffic comes from Google.com.au!).

We think you will love Google XML Website Generator which you can find here:
